Painted live during The One Truthiness, a participatory performance series, this body of work explores the ideas that we are all always in the picture together and that each of us contributes a perspective that can change the meaning of the story.
The painting starts with a clear window. Every brushstroke is visible to the audience as the image unfolds. Over time, the painter recedes behind it while figures shift, appear, and disappear in changing contexts, compressing time like an animation.
When backlit, the painting glows like stained glass. Turned around, it reveals a second image that only the painter could see.
Out of the context of performance, the process is inverted: the final image appears first, while its past emerges only in light.
