Wall Pieces
While these series are all extremely different from each other — in color, medium, and imagery, they all explore human perception and conception — how our engagement, our experience and physical ability to perceive shape what we see and what we know. These epistemological themes use form as well as imagery to create a visceral experience to help the viewer notice their noticing, in addition to whatever content is the subject of the piece.
As I explore an idea, the work finds expression in many different forms. Consistent across my entire body of work are: (1) materiality, texture, and color, (2) perception — how our physical ability to perceive affects what we see and know (3) conception — how what we think we know is shaped by our engagement, our frames of reference, and our experience.
All which roll up to an ongoing interest in representing complexity and context, and to remind us that there is always more to know and more to see.
Additionally, many of these are part of broader series of thought, manifestsed in installations and/or performances.
